Welcome to Counselling Alliance. We are a professional team of counsellors and clinical supervisors with a wide range of experience in various different areas of mental health working with both adults and children & young people. For our information and guidelines on covid, please click here.

We offer a safe and welcoming environment to each of our clients and pride ourselves on our ethics, abilities, honesty and integrity. We offer support to clients struggling with issues, such as anxiety, stress, depression, relationship problems, low self-esteem, unhelpful patterns of behaviour, questioning your sense of self and bereavement – however, if you don’t see your issue listed, don’t worry! We can’t list absolutely everything we support our clients with, so get in touch and share with us what’s troubling you. We also offer bespoke business support and spiritual counselling.

Counselling Alliance began in Kettering in 2012 and was born from a passion of caring about people and caring about our profession and its standards. We now also work in Northampton and are proud of how far we have come over the years. Some of us have a background in or still teach all levels of counselling at a local college. We wanted students or newly qualified counsellors to also have the opportunity to develop their skills whilst studying and therefore offer a placement each year. This has meant we can offer low cost counselling sessions at £25 with our placement person.

Starting out, we had a specific goal in mind and this was to make private counselling accessible, affordable and convenient, so anyone who struggles with life’s challenges can get the help they rightly deserve.

Life can be difficult at times, so if you’re reading this, our guess is that you or someone you know is struggling with something at the moment. We understand that making this decision isn’t always easy and the first step can often be the most difficult, but you are not alone...Remember, this is your journey, our support.

We are all members of the BACP & or SWP. We are proficiency registered, insured for practice and a member of the ICO for Data protection.

What does counselling involve?

At some point in our lives, we may suffer from things that inhibit our happiness. Counselling is a talking therapy that involves helping you find ways to deal with emotional issues and supports you in understanding the reason or reasons you may be unhappy or struggling. Often, getting something off your chest is the most important first step of all.

How can counselling help?

Counselling offers a space like no other. It’s somewhere you can talk freely without fear of judgement or upsetting someone, a place where you can just “be” without expectations. We will listen to you, support you in coping with your issue, looking at different perspectives, perhaps challenging old behaviours. It really is good to talk your feelings through with an impartial person who cares and is trained to help.

How long does counselling last?

There really is a no one size fits all solution, as everyone’s needs are different. But to give an idea, the average number of sessions is between 8 and 24. However, some issues may need more long term work. Counselling is a very personal thing, so we suggest starting with weekly sessions and then adjusting this along your journey to suit your specific needs.
